When I was 5, I went to Rome. I didn’t know anything about Rome, but my sister did. She had read books about Roman mythology, like The Heroes of Olympus, and she acted like a tour guide for my family sometimes.
The thing that I remember the most about Rome is the heat, and when we went to the colosseum, it was especially hot. The tour guide was late, we were burning hot, and we forgot our fans! When the tour guide finally came, it was fun touring the colosseum, but my mom, dad, and I couldn’t fully appreciate it because it was so hot, my sister on the other hand, was having a lot of fun because even though it was hot, she knew all about the colosseum.

The same thing happened for the rest of the trip: we were hot and not fully appreciative of it, and she was having a lot of fun. Now that I have read the books and know about Roman mythology, I want to go again, just not in the summer.
I would recommend reading The Heroes of Olympus by Rick Riordian or reading a different book about Roman mythology, then going to Rome, so that you know about the artifacts that you see, the backstory of them, or about the gods that the backstory mentions.
Try reading these before your trip to Rome
