I was on a cruise in Mexico near Cancun, and we were going snorkeling, but the guide made the mistake of saying “We might see a few (manta/sting) rays” I was terrified. When we were in the Bahamas, on a different trip, we were in a shallow part of the ocean with lots of mantas and suddenly, one touched me. It was right under my feet. AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH, I shrieked I was so scared I couldn’t move. My dad had to come and get me out. I spent the rest of that time on the swing and on the ground. I wouldn’t go in the water.

My mom said, “Look on the bright side, you’re not allowed to touch the rays, so now you can tell all your friends I touched a manta ray.” Anyway, I freaked out and didn’t want to go back in the water. But, I had to because everybody else was going snorkeling. It was great. We did see mantas, but they didn’t come close. We saw 1 big turtle and 3 mantas, we saw 1 starfish 1 eel, and lots of fish and coral.
After snorkeling, we had lots of fun. We went to the front and dried off, then we had burgers (me: veggie burger) mmmmm, yum, then, we took a nap, chatted, listened to music, and looked at the view. This experience taught me that if you brave your fears, you will have a good time. I hope it inspires you to brave your fears.
